Be a Master Over Time, Not a Slave to It

Jan 19, 2026 · By Roland Bangura

Twelve minutes of planning can give you two hours of productive work. Here is how a simple daily plan turns you from a victim of time into a victor over it.

The truth is that time flies and may be hard to control if you don’t know how to control it. You can either be a slave to time or a master over time. The key to becoming a master over time is by planning your day.

This plan is what is commonly known as a to-do list, where you have all the things you want to achieve within a time frame. It is said that 12 minutes of planning gives you 120 minutes of productive work, because planning directs your focus.

Those who neglect planning their day are always victims of time, but those who plan their day are victors over time. Plan your activities and follow the plan.

The best time to plan your day is the night before or in the early hours of the morning before you start. A little planning is the difference between a scattered day and a focused one.
